  1. Vaastu is derived from Sanskrit word Vaas which means to reside.
  2. Vaastu is an ancient Indian Science of Architecture and Buildings which tell us how a building should be planned to channelize positive energy in our lives or a place to live and work in a most scientific way taking advantage of the benefits bestowed by nature its elements and energy fields for enhanced wealth, health, prosperity and happiness.
  3. It has strong scientific base and is not a myth. Vaastu provides the knowledge to be adopted in a building or a house so as to make the native happy, healthy and prosperous. It helps us to make our lives and secure us from things going wrong.
  1. The house should be in the South west zone of the plot.
  2. Slope of the ground should be from the South to North and from West to East.
  3. Walls of the South and West zones should be thick.
  4. Cupboards and Cabinets are suggested to be in the South and West zones of the room.
  5. Bores, Undergroundwater body to the North and North east zones are good.
  6. Over head tanks in South west or West are the best locations. They can be located in South too. They should never be located in North east, South east or at the centre of the house.
  7. Window and door openings to North and East zones are better.
  8. Kitchen should be to the South east zone (e.t. in the AgneyaKonha) and the cook facing the East.
  9. Balconies in the North and East zones are better option.
  10. Place mirror on the North and East walls.
  11. Best location for toilets are South, South west and West zones.
  12. Construct staircase in South west corner or West or South directions in a home.

    Bedroom is a place where we spend almost one third of our time, so it should be restful and comfortable. Its environment should be relaxed and secure.

    Following bed habits, Vaastu room, norms and decors should be observed:-

  1. Best positions of bedroom in the house are South west (),South and West
  2. Best position for master bedroom is South west. Head of the family should occupy this bedroom.
  3. Bedroom in the North west (VayavaKonha) is good for Guests because the element of air will fill them with urge to move on.
  4. Place the bed in South west corner along the South or West wall in such a manner that the occupants can see anyone entering into the room.
  5. We must have a good solid wall behind the bed. Bed should not touch the wall. Free space around the bed helps in circulating the air freely and also in cleaning the room.
  6. The head of the bed should preferably point South. Head in East and West directions are alternative positions.
  7. There should not be any beam or arch just over the head.
  8. Avoid metallic bed.
  9. Avoid bed with boxes.
  10. Wardrobe should be in South west of the bedroom.No door or bathroom should open in front of the bed.
  11. An attractive and pleasant scenery wall hanging or picture brings you pleasure since this is what you will see the first thing when you wake up in the morning. E.g. Pictures of rising Sun, greenery, flowering, beloved ones etc. can be placed on the wall at the foot of your bed.
  12. South west bedroom- Suitable colours are brick red, brown, yellow, ivory etc.. You can have combinations of these colours in this bedroom.
  13. West bedroom- You can paint this room grey or hues of blue.
  14. South east bedroom- Use red, orange. White or anyother fire colour. You can mix and match these colours.
  1. The best directions for a Study Room are North east, East and West.
  2. Student must face East or North while studying.
  3. A beam should neve run above your head while studying.
  4. Place book racks in Southern or Western wall of the Study Room.
  5. Keep study table 10 to 15 centimetres away from the wall to maintain energy flow.
  6. Best position for table lamp is South east corner of the desk.
  7. A Pyramid can be kept near desk as it helps in balancing the energy and increase power of memory.
  8. Keep musical instruments in the North west (WayavyaKonha) of your Study Room.
  9. Place a pot filled with holy water in the North east of your Study Room.
  10. Install portrait of Lord Ganesh / Mata Saraswati (Sharada) in the Study Room to help in concentration and increase the intelligence.
  11. Pendulum Clocks should be at East or North wall.
  12. Door should preferably in North east. Windows should be in North or East direction.
  13. Height of the Study Room should not be less than that of other rooms.
  14. Recommended colours for walls and tiles are sky blue, cream, light green, white pink, yellowish green etc..
  15. Place money plant or a plant of yellowish green colour in a earthen pot near study table. Green colour is very good for eyesight.
